I will post some pictures soon. I had my RE5 displayed by Motorcyclist Magazine celebrating their 100th year at the Laguna Seca MotoGP this last weekend. Much to my surprise Mazda had a 1975 RE5 Displayed in their automobile display at the races!! I spoke to Alan Johnson from Mazda R&D and he told me the bike was a barn find from Ohio that had been sitting for years in the R&D basement storage. They decided to take it out a clean it up a bit to put on display. Presently the engine is frozen and they have asked me to give them a hand getting it road worthy again. It is a little rough but very restorable. I told them to contact Jess at Rotary Recycle for parts etc. Also much to my surprise I was approached by another gentleman from Australia. I forgot his name. He had an RE5 in the back of his truck that he just purchased. He was from Australia and was going to ship the bike back there. I told him about this forum and I am sure he will be posting soon. I told him about Wayne and I am sure you will meet him sometime soon!!!
Another thing - I could not believe how much attention the RE5's got at the race. There were people grouped around my bike for three solid days. When I got ready to leave I had a crowd around me and people running over to hear the bike start. The bike gets some attention at vintage shows but nothing like the people at the MotoGP. Probably because they were not looking for or expecting to see anything like the RE5. I will post some pictures soon.
