Currently on my 76 RE5 I have mounted Metzler, front ME33 and Rear ME55, these tires work very well but I don't think they are still available. In the past I have used Dunlop K70s front 325-19 and rear 400-18 and they work very well but do wear fairly fast. Probably the best tires I have used were the Bridgestone BT45s. They stick extremely well and last a bit longer then the Dunlop K70s. BTW the K70s are very reasonablly priced. A friend (Ric) mounts them on his nicely restored Kawi H2 and he rides extremely fast at Deal's Gap with no grip problems. Currently have the K70s on my '68 Cobra and I rode fairly fast this past May at the Gap and the grip was very good.

I looked online at the Bridgestone BT45's. It's listed as tubeless. I assume that putting tubes in them for the RE-5 is OK?

Just ordered a set of B'stone S11 Spitfires,, 100/90-19front and 120/90-18 rear for the bike, now its home. This combination looks correct for metric sizes in the bike and the little wider rear tyre doesnt look bad either. I've used this combo on my Buffalo in Canada with excellent results, so i decided to try it on the RE5... My only problem is i'll have to open one side of the bead remove the tubes and then cut the old super hard tyres off. I hate doing that especially when going through the wire bead, its just a PITA.. for such old tyres its wise to use new tapes and tubes as well....
