Last night I took my bike out for the first time in months. I've been riding my BMW so it was interesting to remind myself of the quirkiness of our rotary bikes...
Probably the biggest thing I noticed straight away was how vibration free it was. Cruising along at 120k's, the BMW has certain "character" but the RE5 was silky smooth.
Then I noticed what little brakes it has, the ear bleeding induction noise at a certain cruising revs (a trade-off of the SU carburettor, but might be able to fix with a different air filter) and a few other things typical with 70s bikes.
I still wouldn't sell the bike. I just love it. It started first crank after sitting for months, tyres still had air in them and it has that rotary exhaust note, especially the brap at idle...
What a bike- and what a resource this forum is. It would have been much harder without it. I know we've already had the thread with everyone saying how much people are appreciated, but it's true. Some of you out there make a ridiculous effort to make information freely available so thanks.
Oh, and this is my 1000th post! Nice.
Keep them bikes riding folks!

Congrats on becoming an “expert”.
Sounds like your bike is well sorted as well. They are really a joy when they are “right”.
So many naysayers out there that have never ridden a good one. I can’t tell you how many conversations I have had with people that have a very strong opinion about the bike that have never ridden one... much less owned one.
Cheers mate!

I'm still less than half the man Wayne is, looking at his posts! Also thanks Jess and Wayne- one day I'd actually like to meet you fellas! In fact that applies to everyone on here. Met Tim & Dana a few years back in SoCal and it's amazing how well you can get on with people when you have similar interests!

Maybe someone can add a link to your U-Tube of just frying that rear tire! The feeling is mutual. Tim
