It's a bit disappointing to come to this site almost every day and see that only 5 to 10 people have logged into the site in the last 24 hours. Once in awhile there might be 15 to 20. The site is 11 years old if I remember right and to have that amount of logins just makes me feel like the site is a waste of time. I can see where people don't want to pay for an image hosting service or they can't figure out a way around having to pay, but to have so few log ins after all this time and all the help that people have received on here over the years is unacceptable. I don't think that every post needs a photo, does it? I couldn't have chosen a better moderator than Wayne. He is outstanding and has always been into making this site better. I even tried to change him to a site administrator, but apparently there can only be 1 administrator on the forum. That is how much I trust and appreciate all his work on the site. He is amazing!! I sent Wayne an email a week or so ago and mentioned my concerns to him and that maybe I should put up a poll to see if there is still an interest in this site or not. Wayne and I are both curious what the results of the poll would be and we will decide from there if this site is worth the time and effort any longer. It's not meant to be an encyclopedia for people to just check things out and not contribute in any way which seems to be the case now, except for a few people who I'm very aware of who they are. In my opinion, if people can't take the time to even log in then it's time to shut down and move on. Let's see what happens.

This site is the place for information about RE5's and I appreciate the wealth of knowledge here as well as the dedication of the moderator. Please keep it rolling along.

It's easy for me to say: "Absolutely, this Forum should stay open"
However I contribute little. The heavy lifting is done by Wayne, Jess, GoAndy, Tim, Stuart & a few more that are always eager to help. I've worked on motorcycles since I bought my first minibike when I was 10. I had a lot of help then from a generous & gifted neighbor from the UK.
I never worked on a rotary anything until I purchased my RE5. The learning curve is steep & I'm grateful that others are generous with their time to help. Its a big deal. I have many other motorcycle projects (all different types/brands) that take most of my spare time.

I don't think that every post needs a photo, does it? Definitely not. . but if one feels the need to attach an image to every post, it's not hard. Also, you don't have to pay for Flickr and there's no 'figuring out a way around having to pay' either. . It really is an easier option than editing image sizes so there shouldn't be any excuses! I've expressed this here before. . link That post was edited to be more clear and concise.

I would be very sorry to see this site go …
There is an alternative run by the Rotary Owners' Club in the UK (www.rotaryownersclub.co.uk) but it is dominated by Norton rotary questions & answers - mainly due to its location I guess? RE5 owners are welcome to try and change that!!
Happy rotoring!

It’s a useful reservoir of information, but damned if I can figure out how to post photos on it.

It’s a useful reservoir of information, but damned if I can figure out how to post photos on it. . . if using Yahoo's FLICKR (sign up and upload your pictures there), click the lower right "share photo" arrow (seen on the image you uploaded). After clicking the arrow, it's important to select the proper link type, click "BBCode" and then "copy" the link. You can paste the address to whatever forum/post you wish. The image link will already be wrapped with the appropriate tags so you only need to paste it.

Images seem to be a big complaint and this doesn't have to be. . . If there's only one thing that I wish to possibly teach anyone here (that doesn't already use an image hosting site). . It's that these sites far superior to the restricted attachment tool used by this forum!
Edit: If I were to make a step-by-step tutorial (with pictures) starting from uploading an image/s, to pasting on this forum, would that be helpful?

Edit: If I were to make a step-by-step tutorial (with pictures) starting from uploading an image/s, to pasting on this forum, would that be helpful? Thank you for the suggestion Zach. However, I'm pretty sure that the site administrator has explained at least once how to post pictures on the board. I've also done a step by step on how to use a third party hosting site. Why this continues to be an issue befuddles me and I'm no tech guru. Let me review the "adding pictures" posts and make sure they're still here and easy to find.

Like a lot of people, I check in most days but don't log in (as I usually check in at work... ) but I'll make a point of logging in future.
But I have to say, without this forum I would not have had access to information I needed to make a decision to buy a RE5. I found my RE5 through this forum and have since bought upgrades and parts from Jess and others to ensure that the bike will be on the road for years to come.
I'm guilty as many others for not making contributions, but as the bike has never given me any problems over the years there is little for me to contribute. However, I do read all posts from others who have got things to say and the site is an invaluable learning resource which I hope can continue...
Cheers Mick

Just joined to put in my vote. Only own one bike but have looked through here a few times for info. Hate to lose that reference. Understand it may be a financial thing so a subscription based format may be the only long term answer.

I don't want to see the forum go away, I hate that most other groups have been moving to Facebook. I admit I haven't logged on much lately, mostly because my RE5 is down due to carb issues and needing a new battery. I pretty much know everything that needs to be done to get it back up and running but have just been frustrated with the carb and needed a break from it. Well, that, and we had a kid last November so haven't quite sorted out my time availability for this stuff yet.

I believe this site is pricesless. The wealth of knowledge here is staggering, if one takes the time to look.
Unfortunately, attitudes have shifted and many seem to want the immediate gratification that FB gives.
If it were up to me, I would shut it down.
There are 525 members. At the time of my post, there have been 33 votes. That means that approximately 6% of the folks registered on the site cared enough to take the time to respond. If I were funding and maintaining the site, this would be too small a number for me to continue to take my time to keep it going.
As always, just my 2 cents... and probably not even worth that.
Best regards,
