I’m sure that this has been discussed here but I just can’t seem to find anything on it. Just rebuilt the carburetor and I can get about one crank before the starter starts spinning. Bad starter clutch?

Also. When I get the bike starter it seems to run fine under 300 rpm. When I get past 3k it stutters, backfires and dies. I can block the top butterfly valve and it seems to run great after that so it seems like it’s really lean. Not sure if it could have something to do with the choke unloader or not. Any help on this would be great. Possibly some pictures of what the choke unloader arm is supposed to look like.

check what type of oil you have in gearbox and use what owners manual specifies ( oil with slip additives can course starter and clutch slippage ) , Carby sounds like 2ndary main jet system still blocked or port valve timming not right , check them again hope that helps you .urs Al in Aus

Yep, this has been discussed before. Almost certainly the starter clutch. Jess tried to get another batch produced- but came up against a wall of apathy when too few stepped up to order one.
