Sad to hear of your poor experience with this ball, and bat. A good idea to get an expert if no personal experience. Hope you get your RE sorted, and road worthy soon.

Since I have no dog in this fight I will weigh in....
There is/was only one Re5 expert, and unfortunately he passed away. Sam Costanzo knew more about these bikes than anyone in existence. He worked with Suzuki on the project and spent the next 25 years after the end of production keeping them alive. He lived and breathed the Re5 in a way that most people cannot comprehend. He used to tell me he was going to write a book, but never did. I have 8000 pages of his handwritten notes as he was both prolific and meticulous..
I am amazed at how many Re5 “experts” have popped up since his death. I am not sure what qualifies one to be an expert on a 45 year old machine that had 6300 built, but I suppose the definition of expert is subject to interpretation.
I do not consider myself an Re5 expert, as I have no where near the knowledge the old man had. I can say this... I am confident that no one alive in the world has laid hands on as many as I have. I also believe that I have resurrected/restored more than anyone alive.
It also sounds like the seller threw around “fully restored”. Again... a word that has been diluted to the point of being almost meaningless. Most folks have never fully restored any car or motorbike and have no knowledge of the time involved in the endeavor.
The only good news is that all the issues you list are fairly easily corrected by a competent mechanic. Sorry that you feel burned.
If I can help supply any parts, let me know.
Best regards,

I think that it might have been removed as part of the gentlemans agreement. I didn't get to see it but I heard about it. I'm glad everything was worked out between the 2 parties.

Yes, i guess it looks that way now, but i agreed to do it as he really wanted it removed. It wasn't pointless overall, because i got paid when the person realised the mistakes he had made. The post here was a big part of the reason sense was seen, so to speak. But the overall message remains. When you are buying for a lot of money, car or bike or even house, and you are not well-versed in what you are buying, take someone with you and pay them if necessary.
