I haven't been active much. . other than lingering from behind dark corners around here from time to time . Anyways, dropping in to say hi and show my face and to say that I got to fill the rotary bike void in my life by riding something other than my dinky little Hercules (such a tough name for a puny bike) which was a beautiful RE5M. I've had the itch to get another RE lately and riding that M didn't help. . If only I knew where I could obtain such a rare and obscure headache on wheels. . LOL Maybe next year. . we shall see Hope all is well, Zach

I was thinking the same thing, long time no post. Rode my blue RE to Cook's Corner, a popular bike hangout this Sunday. Some backround. There was a guy in town back in the 60's who saw the chopper craze coming and started to make extended front ends with spools, twisted girder, springer ones, all that kind of stuff. He made a lot of money doing this, and at what seemed like the zenith of the chopper fad, he sold the business and bought this rundown property out at Cook's Corner that at the time was out in the middle of no where. With his connections and business sense, he turned it into a cult hangout for the Harley crowd. Sold it when it was at it's peak and went on to who knows what. He had great timing and business sense. Anyway, I showed up on my rotary, my son followed me on my MKIII Norton, (as he is uncomfortable on most of my bikes due to the right hand shift thing) and as luck would have it, found a parking spot right up front near the entrance. We went inside to get an overpriced beer, and when we came back outside, through all the vendors selling black leather this and that, was a crowd of people gathered around the two bikes. This is not unusual when I ride the Suzuki there, but I always chuckle to myself. Here are custom Harleys worth 50-80K and people are gathered around my bike. So I go out to the crowd, first thing they say is "Does it run? Can you start it for us?" So I turn the key, the lens pops open and the sound the crowd makes, you would think an alien popped out of the instruments. So I touch the start button, and the motor comes to life, with that nice lope at idle. then come all the usual questions, except for this one scruffy looking guy who keeps examining the bike from his position, and after some time passed, declared, "I don't think this bike was built in the USA." His buddies laughed, it was apparent he did not have any idea what he was looking at. So, after finishing up the round of questions, the crowd drifted away, and we continued on with our ride. I always draw a group of guys there, and the son and his girlfriend liked the attention we received, he even got a question or two about the Norton. All in all, the day was in the low 80's, I got to exercise two of my bikes, so was a good end to my Sunday afternoon.

I've been monitoring this reduction in posts. It started in earnest about 18 months ago. Looking at the posts per day statistics, it looks pretty clear if you look over 3 month blocks over the last 3 years. Probably FB.
Interestingly, the number of page views hasn't been affected.
Enjoyed reading your story though. Typical day out on the RE5. I was still getting away with telling young blokes around 2000 that it was Suzuki's latest model.

I remember many years ago when I rode one of me Re5’s into a multi line Japanese dealer. When I came out there was a small crowd around the bike.
The GM of the dealership was CONVINCED that I had built the thing in my garage and put Suzuki emblems on it. He was assuring people... Suzuki motor corp had never produced a rotary bike.
Best,

I would say Jess is pretty talented to build that by himself. The bigger question is where did he get the 90 million to do it? Jeff
