A friend from Holland showed his unique RE5 with sidecar at the "exoten exhibition" Pic is a bit small...will try to upload some bigger ones.

Beautiful outfit.
You wouldn't believe the serendipity. I've just been in a conversation with another member about sidecars. I fact I'm going out today to see a sidecar manufacturer about fitting one to my RE5. A plan I've had for a very long time. The fitout includes leading link suspension and upgrade to R1 brakes.

Very little experience with side cars here. The bike will pull a 42 rear sprocket, with a side car, one will have to go the other
way to let the engine rev. With the early GT-750s the rear spokes wouldn't last long with any stunts on 2 wheels.
One fellow added light oil to the S&W air suspension to add some additional dampening on the side car shock.
Various ways to help compensate for the pull also.
Good Luck with the conversion if you continue with the project. Thanks

Peet Assman is a technical genius. We lend him a damaged crashbar that had only one good side...a few weeks later he had made two exact copies that only had to be chromed.

Good Luck with the conversion if you continue with the project. Thanks Tim John Steain down here had a DJP car on an RE5 back in the day. I'm pretty sure it ran with stock gearing and he thought it had enough power. I'm not a big bloke but John is particularly trim and light weight (as is his wife who was the passenger back then). As I have a 530 chain my front sprocket is 17 tooth. I think dropping one, or even two teeth on the front may be an idea. I'm meeting a bloke today who can tell me whether or not the bike will still qualify for our "Vintage" road registration. This is an important part of the idea as it saves you around $900 a year in fixed costs. The terms of vintage rego include "period-only" mods. I'm sure leading link will qualify but will they wear the brake upgrade ? I'll find out. Thanks............ PS Had another mate put a broken spoke through the front tube on his GT750L outfit at 80 mph fully loaded. He reckons he went from missing telegraph poles on the wrong side of the road to missing poles on his side a number of times before he brought it to a stop. Mind you, he was fond of picking the car up in the air while riding in a straight line (passenger included). I've got a 7-star "mag" wheel for the rear and a "snowflake" GS (X) wheel for the front. That should help.

Just stunning.
Years back in the early days of the navigation systems , a magazine article noted a comment from a passerby
saying "what is that, some kind of fish finder?"

Just noticed this. What do you think the large silver can on the left side 'round about where the swingarm bolt goes through ? Some sort of push button gear shifter ?

Hello Wayne..;surely Peet will be happy to give more details after he has joined the board.I have a strong presumption that it is a device he uses to change gears with some kind of handle-bar controlls... :-)
