Am having a batch of seats made up by a firm in Scotland UK ...Am going to also have one made with a small hump with RE5 on the back not Suzuki ...If any one wants a seat then let me know ...Would be around £200 for a std complete seat ...Will test on my bike when the first one comes and post a pic ...

Is that a SU carb?

No, that's a Keihin FCR, but I've since ditched it for a Mikuni BST40 (from a DR650): The BST being a CV arrangement seems to be a much better fit to the characteristics of the RE than the slide of the FCR. There's still some room for improvement (I think a 40mm carb is a bit large), but the old girl now pulls like a train, without any hesitation or dead throttle like the OEM pile of crap carb.

Hi, I've shared 1 photo via Photobucket for Samsung. Please click the link to view photos: share.photobucket.com/shareprofile/indexshare.php?id=MzI2ODM= mine will have a small hump like my Bridgestones ...While am sure they run better on a non-standard carb i would not put one on mine ...Well only when i build my retro RE5 with a big hump seat black engine silver frame and some sort of blower into the intake ...

Well, the factory objective is rheostat like response ...... I think this might be where the phrase " turn up the wick" was first coined!

Hi, I've shared 1 photo via Photobucket for Samsung. Please click the link to view photos: share.photobucket.com/shareprofile/indexshare.php?id=MzI4NzQ= Best add that i do have plans to build a special custom retro cafe racer or what ever out of this RE5 ...With the cost of original parts at what they are its a choice of using this as a parts bike or making a special but not cutting frame etc ...GS snow flake wheels with rear disc brake etc ...All in black would look good ...And yes a non standard carb as this will cut costs also ...This is the bike that sold for $100 off ebay in US ...cost a lot more to bring to UK ...Found the spag clutch had come apart jamming it ...Has torn the idle gear shaft off and broke a few teeth off ...Good news its got 113 psi compession off the kick start but not a proper test ...Will fit new parts and test it on the starter ...called throwing a bucket of water on the fire !

Please put me down for a seat, or at least a base, might even collect if possible, give me an excuse for a trip out.
Noticed Freddy the frog has a repro RE5 seat offering on his site.
Good luck with your project, I believe Jess had a neat RE with a custom job, pictures somewhere on the web.
