Hello,
Any ideas as to where I can find a radiator hose for the re5? I'm referring to the two large hoses.
Is there a cross reference to another bike or car? (I'm in the u.s. )
How about the thermostat with the two mail ends?
Regards, redbug2

The straight hose can be measured and purchased at most auto parts stores.
The specially curved hose and the filler neck hose... Good luck!
I had them made years ago at great cost, but they are accurate.
If you want a set, pm me

A bike i brought had a S/S spring of the correct OD inside the bottom hose ...This would prevent kinking when fitting a unformed hose also put in boiling water before fitting to make it soft ...I took it out as it had aready kept its shape ...A usefull tip on any motor ..Not trying to take away some ones sale ..

I went through the various hoses at my local auto parts store. Found a very common one for an Aussie Ford Falcon which had a straight part and a curved section which matched what I needed. Cut it up and had two new hoses!

To Glen: Good information to have. Thanks for sharing. Since I am no longer in the parts biz... doesn't bother me a bit. At this point the parts I have, I try to help others with... Other than that I just keep them for my own bikes, as I am just like everyone else now... an enthusiast. To Andy: I can just see the guy behind the parts counter where I live... "you want a radiator hose for a WHAT? " LOL... Best,

Thanks for the input. Hose in frame was already replaced. Visited local NAPA store and they had a 1" heater hose. About $2 a foot. Was fractionally larger than original. Once on the bike you could not tell. Loaded in the anti freeze and got it up to temperature. One small leak in return manifold gasket, an easy fix. Smoked quite a bit due to OhioJoe and me attempting to start old proper and loading up the pipes with oil. After about 5 minutes or so the fan kicked on and the smoked subsided considerably. Here's a video I shot while it was warming up. Getting up to temerature. Notice left pipe smoking more than right. Could not get idle down with set screw, cables were too tight. Fixed that later. This must be a very early RE-5. It has an on off for the head lights, I don't think my RE-5 has that, mine is locked to on position.

Sounds OK .
Oil/fuel can lie in low part of pipes and normally on the left when you've had the bike on side stand while trying to start bike and can take a while to burn off. Hope it clears up and cables adjusted for ride.
Light switches on the EU bikes had on/off and (P)pass button, Refer to workshop manual to find your area/state model using your frame number and different part numbers . Side stand starting is something I would not recommend especially on a bike not run for a long time or rebuilt as carb float level is altered with the tilt of bike and may interferer with mixture on stat up..
Well done Rog
