Ah yes Wayne, the port valve on the housing is what I was referring to. I haven't had to work on the re5 in awhile so memory is a bit hazy. No clogged jets on my re5 or vacuum leaks. I've had the carb apart so many times with jets out and only once actually had a clogged jet and it was the one down below the carb throats. I wish it was a clogged jet when I had this problem, I took the carb apart a few times before figuring it out.

Hello Tom, to be sure that plug is not the problem I took a quite new one. This plug was good for several test.
I will be very happy to get a picture of the cable.
Before the test I close the pipe for the vacuum to the pedcock. No extra air may influence the result .
Thanks
Kerstin

It's not a great photo but here is the adjustment for the port valve. If you open and close the throttle cable you can see the timing of when the valve opens, don't change that. But you can adjust the set screw to close slightly further to block that air inlet more completely.

Hello Tom, we tried to adjust the stop screw. The action does not change the situation. We are very glad. one new idea. The function of the choke valve is not as it has to be. It seems that the spring inside the mechanism is out of order. Is it possible to remove the cover when the carburator is assembled to the engine? Kerstin

It's possible to remove the cover with the carburetor installed but it's probably easier to just remove the carburetor.

One question left: did anybody have an o-ring for the carburator? The o-ring is on the pilot jet for the first system. Our ring is broken. Kerstin
