Due to the support of some members of this forum, I was able to get another batch of ignitions made. As most of you are aware, the costs of small parts runs are prohibitive. Several members stepped up to help me defray the costs and get these things built. So, a big thanks to those guys for giving deposits so I could make these...
If anyone needs one, now is the time to get it. Costs are continually rising, so this will be the last run at this cost. A complete unit, with step by step installation instructions is 500.00, I have less than 10 units that are not spoken for...
The unit is plug and play and requires no modification to your bike. No wires are cut. no holes drilled and it replaces the unobtainium CDI box and A points.They can be installed with hand tools in about 2 hours and do not require you to break the seal on the clutch cover. They have been on the road in use now for almost a decade and I have not received a report of any failures. They provide a more energetic spark, and far more accurate and consistent timing than points. Many have also noted that they have gotten improved perfomance as well as fuel economy. The idea being that their CDI was marginal and even though it was working, it was on its way out. To my knowledge it is the ONLY aftermarket ignition system for the Re5.
As an aside, the unit was in beta during the last Re5 Iron Butt attempt. I assisted in prepping that bike for the rally and it did not finish due to a CDI failure. It is my belief that the bike would have finished had it been fitted with my system as it was running strong and almost halfway through the event when the CDI failed.
One of the best compliments I received was from a member who stated the system was "brilliantly simple".
