Hi,
after 18 month I got finally my RE5 running on the road this week.
Sadly I still have a problem left. The vacuum diaphragm of the petcock is leaking. It seems that it is a frequent problem. Are they well known solutions to fix this problem, or is it somewhere possible to find a new diaphragm or petcock?
Thanks for any answer.

Hi, Which way is the petcock leaking? Is the vacuum sucking air and not opening fuel? Is the petcock and diaphrams leaking raw fuel into the vacuum port and manifold?
Does it not shut off with the engine? I've been successful with fitting the right new o-ring to seal.
There is a fix on the forum to convert to manual operation that has some illustrations as I recall. Try the search and others may help.
Others here are searching on a later GS series petcock that is still available. Hope to have some positive news soon.

Hi,
thanks for your answer.
Fuel goes out from small hole linked to the space between the double diaphragm. The fuel side of the diaphragm pair is cracked and probably no more watertight.
I remember that there was a fix described in the forum. I have to learn how to search on a forum to find it again !
This night I found a GT750 petcock picture from behind, and it seems that the vacuum system is the same, even if the rest of the petcock is quite different. So I ordered a new GT750 petcock on ebay and will wait for it before doing anything else.
I also looked at GS750 petcocks, they may be adaptable. Alas all but one have the fuel output on the wrong side for the RE5.

Hi,
I received my new GT750 petcock this morning. All the back parts (vacuum elements) and front parts (tap elements) are the same. I have mounted them and everything fits perfectly. The only downside is the black color of the back plate.

Hi Grosours, I found two different references for the GT750 petcock (72-73 or 74-77, see here), which one did you use? Thanks for your help, Jean-Denis

Hello, we know about this problem. Did everbody mount the GT 750 pedcock? I think the additional fitting at the tank can be closed. Kerstin

Hello, we know about this problem. Did everbody mount the GT 750 pedcock? I think the additional fitting at the tank can be closed. Kerstin If I am not mistaken the Late GT internal petcock components can be transferred as Grossours states. In my experience, the internal o-ring gets deformed and or rust is causing the leakage. this GS one works great as witnessed on a recent ride . re5rotary.proboards.com/thread/2271/petcock
And another fix is to convert to manual operation with repair steps recently listed on a thread.
