Ok. I am new to the forums . I have search and came out empty handed. I have been working on rotaries for over 20 years . New to the re5 scene . Just bought a 1976 re5a with about 4k miles . Engine was left seating and it was seized . Got that part taken care off in about 2hrs motor turns nicely and seals and springs feel good . During the fluid check process once I took the tranny plug out it started over flowing with what it seems like clear silicone oil and water . Before I go crazy taking things apart have anyone experienced water in the transmission oil? Where are the common places for the problem to be at ? I thought maybe the water pump seal but not sure yet .any suggestions?

You might keep it simple and leave the trans drain plug out and pressurize / test the cooling system. The water pump tell tale hole usually shows either seal leaking, too. Hopefully it isn't a rusted/corroded core plug.

Yes that sounds good thank you. After looking over the diagrams I can see the reasoning for that if the water pump casing fills first then that's where the problem is at . If water come out the bottom plug then it would be the core plug . The bike had been seating for about 3 years and engine was seized about 6 months ago. So no telling where tranny water came from .

Well seems like the cooling system is in working order . No leaks from core plug not water pump area. System held pressure well and still had perfect antifreeze/coolant in it. By looking at he bike seems like it was in a flooded area and water had gotten in the transmission from an open lid of the breaker area. All oils have been changed , cables fixed and engined freed up. Placed a battery a small amount of starting fluid in carb and bike fired up nicely . Now to fix all the fuel leaks and replaced broken parts . Hoping to have it road ready in about 2 weeks
