Am sure someday a very clever bloke will make a twin rotor RE ....like these who make Kawasaki two stroke V sixes etc ....All you need is a center plate and a bit of work with the crankshaft etc !! .....But for now i have just put the two chambers together after a few beers and dream someone will do the hard work ....

Suzuki Made several prototype 1000 cc rotors. The were intending an Re10. However, due to poor financial performance of the Rx5/re5 project the idea was canned, and the prototypes were destroyed. I have a photograph somewhere in the records.
For now, the only way to own a 1000cc wankel bike is a Van Veen... and they only made 38 of those. They are a wee bit scarce.
A couple of years ago the fellow who bought all the spares for the Van Veen made one. He said he could make and support 10... but the cost was WAY beyond what most of us could consider. I think he wanted 150K US. It was made exactly as the originals but in my humble opinion still not the same.
I've often thought it would be a great project to make an RE10, I certainly have the parts to do it. Unfortunately, I'm not smart enough to pull it off.
Best,

I'll try it in the middle of the sentence: cp_www.tripod.com/rotary/pg05.htm. This is a link to a site. When I put "http//...", it gets chopped off. WHY?
It's been done! The engine for the R0-80 was a doubled-up version of the good 'ol KKM-502, down to the Solex 18-32 HHD Downdraft. In other words, the Central Housing is already there, it's just a matter of what fits and what doesn't and how much $$$ you have.
Ain't it always that way?

I've always wondered about whether I should have a go in the future. I do have a spare bike in pieces.... two spare motors... also enough parts to build a few Mazda 13B's... I'd love to get my hands on a Ro80 motor but they're just about impossible to find here in Australia. The only downside is that the motor would be another chamber and a bit wider on the left side of the bike(say around 15-20cm). And then I think that with double the rotors I'd have double the current problems... so I go and have another beer and forget about it!

Ha Ive been thinking about doing it as my sons a fitter and turner and said he can make a crank up , if you look at the engine mounts R/hand side the engine is made to move over and you wouldnt need a balance (L/H side ) with a twin so it would fit !!!!

Here you go. This is what you need to make but with RE5 style bits on either end!

Al,
I'm afraid an ro80 motor is difficult to find anywhere in the world... Not just oz.
I have been looking for years.
I agree that it could be made to bolt in... As that was suzukis plan. They intended to use the same frame radiator and even brakes (shudder)....
The radiator and frame were up to the task... The brakes I believe would have been an issue.
I would embark upon the task as it would be a hell of an experience. Alas... I'm stupid... And the machining is WAY above my pat grade.
Best,

Well after a few more beers with Irish Whiskey chasers i think the way forward is a triple Rotor RE5 ! ...Going back to the twin rotor bike Suzuki had planned you would have thought the cost of producing the bike would be have been very low but then ...In taking these pics i have noticed that one chamber has a different top frame mount cast ...and there are numbers stamped on the chambers ?

The person to undertake such a feat would perhaps be Alan Millyard, an outstanding engineer. Check out his multi cylinder kawasaki 2 strokes, v12 based on z1300 and the Millyard Flyer made out of a couple of cylinders from a radial aero engine

I was thinking that we may be able to modify the Mazda 12A eccentric shaft (I have a few sitting on the shelf). A centre plate could be machined out of a sheet of Al then hardened. I wish this hadn't been brought up again. I also wish I didn't have a spare frame and two spare motors. Makes me think silly thoughts.
