Gotta say I recommend this shop for our Radiators . Since Radiators are relatively light to ship and not everyone has a shop on the corner, shipping might be worth the money, I'm very happy with their work. Here is the link to their web page, you will see they do it all and know from where they speak. fontanaradiator.com/index.htmlYou will notice the 5.5mm tube had long since corroded off, the Radiator was heavily clogged, they safely cleaned and inspected the core and built the base for the still available, "banjo fitting, bolt and Suzuki clamp. Clamps not pictured I'd be interested in your feedback, too. Timpa136

Nice job on the broken tube. I've had a tube repaired by someone regarded as a very talented alloy welder (and he is) but it's nowhere as neat as that job.
I have a friend with a near perfect radiator, it was even mounted on a bike during restoration and it wasn't until just leading up to engine start after a full rebuild that I found the threads where the plastic bolt goes had been stripped in the past.
It's sitting around as a spare with the hope that a repair can be made. This shop gives me hope. Maybe there's a good one down here.

I'll have to admit, I've never thought about rebuilding those. It looks like they know their stuff. This is a good resource.

I'll keep it in mind. I actually have 4 radiators, but I haven't tested them yet.

One modification to help the tendency to vapor lock in the carburetor. Tim

timpa136, Am looking at your photo above and not seeing what modification you're talking about. Could you explain? I'm not able to open the pic (photobucket) you have inserted in your first post to this thread. Was it showing the rebuild/reattachment of the small tube at the radiator neck?

timpa136, Thanks for posting the pics. It shows clearly the modification you speak of. Now I have to ask what may be the stupid question, where does the other end of the hose go? Does it go to a different overflow tank?

The modification functions much as the original pipe.
No other modifications to the Radiator sub tank.

I can attest to the modification to the radiator for air flow to keep the carb. cooler in Tim's picture. I read somewhere ( Probably on this forum ) that this would help. Tim shared that picture with me a some time ago. I was having trouble at 90 degree F. plus days especially at low speed in town and stop and go traffic with the vapor lock. Somewhere Suzuki mention that the fuel was boiling in the area at the bottom of the carb. in the passage after the secondary main jet which feeds the primary pilot and primary main jet. The symptom would be very lean surging at low speed and I could get it to clear up if I could run on the secondary main jet for a short burst. The air flow mod. has fixed this problem , but I haven't gotten to test it at the extreme 100 F. plus temps. yet. Thank you Tim.

Very nice repair to the radiator. Must have been a very good welder as that area is thin and even thinner with corrosion. Probably like welding gum wrappers together

I'm reposting this because I missed this as well and focused on the repair to the elbow hose. This is the modification Tim posted about to help reduce the chance of Vapour Lock. Now excuse me while I find a flat blade screwdriver...……

From Brian: Probably like welding gum wrappers together. LOL Wayne, May I suggest instead of a screwdriver, a popsicle stick. This way you can treat yourself and your waistline as well as the bike.
