This just in from one of our co-hosts John,
RE5, GT750 Lemans, all Suzukies . Our club started as a GT-750 club and our co-host wrote a book. Author is " John Brusch" and titled "Where The Buffalo Roams". Maybe we can get him to sign some copies!
We're making plans for an exciting Fortieth Anniversary - Lemans America National Rally in 2015! The event will be held along the Mississippi River near Savanna in Northwestern Illinois. We will have at least two blocks of hotel rooms available. We are trying to re-engage some of our former members in the Midwest via collaboration with the Heartland Sundae Road Riders - lots of old friends there to get reacquainted with! The majority of Sundaes are campers, so we will also have a nearby campground at Mississippi Palisades State Park. Wayne and Pam Miller will be my co-hosts for the rally, and we promise a very busy schedule of interesting and fun things to do during the rally week!
They are still narrowing down the Dates, let me know your preference soon and I will relay it. Timpa136
Jun 15-19 (week following MTC rally in Rapid City)
Thanks - let me know your thoughts, and stay tuned for more information!

See you in June! I have posted the latest rally sign up information on post 12. Thanks Tim Johnston March 22, 2015.Important Information from Earlier Announcements: Dates have been set for the Lemans America “Quadragennial” National Rally - the week of June 14-20, 2015! For those not familiar with Lemans America, we are the original Suzuki owners organization in the US. Our club was first formed way back in 1975, to suit the friendship needs of Suzuki GT-750 "Lemans" owners. Though much smaller than we were years ago, we continue to gather each year for a fun-filled rally, riding whatever we choose (though there are a few GT’s still in circulation). This year, four is our lucky number! Thanks to special cooperation with the Heartland Sundae planners, we're setting a four-states flavor for our Quadragennial Rally. Your Rally hosts look forward to meeting you all for a week of rural and urban exploration and relaxation along the majestic upper Mississippi River! This invitation is for all of us, not just former Lemans America members. The rally will be centered in Savanna, IL. Due to the lack of commercial development in this area, lodging choices are very limited. We will accommodate everyone within a 15-minute radius at two available hotels, with camping at Mississippi Palisades State Park -- all situated along the Great River Road, US 84. For our camping guests, the rally center will be a tent and RV loop at Mississippi Palisades State Park just north of Savanna, IL along US Hwy 84. We want to accommodate everyone in sites 85 through 105 (photo and map attached). If you intend to camp, please make your reservation now through Reserve America ( www.reserveamerica.com/unifSearch.do ). You will need to set up an account (easy), log in, and then select your campsite and make your reservation. Our loop is toward the lower right part of the reservation map. Reservations are cancelable except for a $5 non-refundable booking fee. We've visited the park and the selected area is a nice, flat, open area close to showers and drinking water. Most sites are electric and run $20 with up to two tents or one RV. For those who prefer motel accommodations, we have reserved a limited block of rooms at Super 8 in Savanna for 10% off the normal rate (your cost $82.80 + tax for a king bed room or $91.80 + tax for two queen beds). This will be the preferred location since it is closest to the campground. If you wish to stay at the Super 8, please call them at 815-273-2288 and make your reservation now if possible, but for sure by May 30, 2015. Plan on arriving Sunday, June 14, and departing Friday, June 19. The cancellation policy is 72 hours before scheduled arrival, so keep this in mind if your plans change. We might not be able to expand our initial 12-room block due to current hotel limits, so the sooner you can reserve the better. Note about Super 8 -- The hotel is becoming independent and will soon (March 1?) have a different name, although reservations made now will be honored. They are working to help us block additional rooms, so hopefully we can accommodate all our guests there, unless... If you want to save a little green, the Sandburr Run golf club and hotel in Thomson, IL is about 10 minutes south. We have a large block of rooms there for $69.00 + tax. We were able to get this rate due to pending renovations ongoing at the hotel. If you are interested in Sandburr Run, call their front office at 815-902-6063 and make your reservation by May 30, 2015. The cancellation policy is 48 hours before scheduled arrival in case your plans change. For Rally activities, we have a lot in store (more info on this to be sent soon): · Visit to the American Motorcycle Museum and JP Cycles in Anamosa, IA · Free pulled pork feast Monday night (an Iowa favorite, next to corn on the cob which won’t be ready in June) compliments of your rally hosts · A special Bike Blessing event · Scenic rides cornering all four of the “quad” states · Visits to House on the Rock architectural site (WI), the historic mining town of Galena (IL), Chestnut Mountain Resort (IL), Field of Dreams (IA), American Pickers (IA), Bluff-top Hiking (MN), National Mississippi River Museum (IA), and more! For the gamblers among us (since "fours" are lucky?), the area is home to at least that many large casinos. · Our Fortieth Anniversary Banquet on Thursday night - a chance to look back and reflect on the last 40 years of adventurous Suzuki (etc.) motorcycling across the USA. · Door prizes from US Suzuki, thanks to Tim Johnston We're looking forward to seeing you in June! Your rally hosts, John and Mary Ann Bruesch (IA) Wayne and Pam Miller (IL) President Don and Annette Boyd (MI) P.S. – Some readers have asked if they can post this invitation on public forums and bulletin boards. Please contact me before doing this, as the message format could be different.

So tell me more about LeMans America. I have found no info on the club and thought it was long gone. I was a member in the 80's. I attended the national in Branard in '83-'84. Helped put on the National on in Iowa in '85, and attended the national in Decatur,Alabam in 86. Is this the same club? I was the Iowa asst. Road capt. through most that time. Hook me up with current info. I might join again. Currently I have '75 GT 750,'75 RE5, '79 GS-1000E, '82 gs 1100G, '67 B105P, '72 RV 90. plus numerous other older bikes. I also have some pics from these rallys. Thanks in advance. Mike in Indianola economy5@aol.com

Hello Mike,
Yes, we are the same club and have been here ever since 1975. Yes, Marie and I were at the 3 rallies that you were, and I look forward to meeting up with you again. We love to kick back evenings and to go over pictures from past rallies. The Fortieth should be a great time to bring pictures. I should have the motel info to post today, and hope you can make it. Dates have been set for the Lemans America “Quadragennial” National Rally - the week of June 14-20, 2015! As sort of a reunion/homecoming/whatever-happened-to opportunity, we're open to RE5 and other classic Suzuki riders who may wish to join us in this landmark celebration. For those not familiar with Lemans America, we are the original nation-wide Suzuki owners organization. Our club was first formed way back in 1975, to suit the friendship needs of Suzuki GT-750 "Lemans" (a.k.a. “water Buffalo”) owners. Bylaws were changed so the many other Suzuki touring bike models could also join us, culminating with the Cavalcade and even non-Suzukis. Disagreements within the club eventually resulted in attrition and breakaways, but we still thrive in a much simpler, smaller, less complicated organization. And we continue to gather each year for a fun-filled rally! This year, four is our lucky number! Thanks to special cooperation with the Heartland Sundae riders of Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota, we're setting a four-states flavor for our Quadragennial Rally. I am looking into making it also. I am going to be in Amana ,Iowa for a BMW rally Fri,Sat Sun and its only about 60-70 miles from there. I would trailer 4-5 bikes to the event and then camp in my trailer. I actually thought the Lemans Club was dead and gone. Sounds like I may have met several of the members before. So I was wrong. Its 120 miles from Amanas to Savanna. But the wife and I plan on being there. Already made camping reservations. Now to decide which bikes to bring. Please ad me to any lists or emails so I can catch up on the club. Thanks Mike in Indianola

I'm going to make rally shirts available to all interested. I'll post the final design when we have it. Prices may be closer to $20.00 plus shipping. Be thinking if you might be interested and what size you would like.
edit: No time now to post, heading for the printers.

It was real nice to meet one new RE5 board member here. The rain and threatening weather must have been a strong deterrent. Our President is the last one to leave his bikes at home but it rained that hard. Economy 5 nearly got his trailer and stable of bikes stuck in the campground. It was good to meet Mike and Becky and a lot of familiar faces . We went to the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa where we spotted a nice A model RE5 on display. The water taxi on the Mississippi was great fun riding to a casino Buffett. Hope to meet more of you next year when we are returning to North Carolina. Timpa136
