Any ideas what I should use to protect the paint on my gas tank while I do the POR15 in it? That is my biggest concern doing this job, ruining the paint. I have to get this job done so I can progress with the bike and hopefully put it on the road this year. I bet if I get it on the road I won't think about selling it. On the other side of the coin, if I don't get it on the road this year, it would be best to let it go to someone who will.

I had a shop do my GT750 tank, but they also painted it. I'm not sure how much of a solvent POR-15 is, but i would look into the plastic wrap that has a slight adhesive on one side to protect the outside from accidental spills with an extra layer of tape around the filler and the fuel level and petcock openings. Grease the threads on bolts going into holes. Maybe painters tape over the pinholes you have. I bet if you contact the manufactuer, they probably have good tips on this.
