I am determining interest for another run of electronic ignition kits for the Re5.
As most of you are aware, we designed a "Plug and Play" kit for the Re5.
We require commitment for 10 units before we build them. Once we have 10 committed, we will take deposits for the units and have them made.
Once we collect your deposit, we typically have the units ready to ship within 90 days.
We have to do this as the units are far too expensive to build and have sit on the shelf. Total cost is 400.00 per kit. Deposit is 250.00.
There have been many positive comments on the ignition units as to simplicity of design and excellent function. There have also been some folks that thought they could produce a better kit. To date... my units have been in operation for three years without ONE failure. There have been no units returned, and no competing units have been produced.
If you are interested in reliable starting, while eliminating some obsolete and worn parts, this is the kit for you. Again, it is plug and play and there is NO permanent modification to the bike. Most folks can do the entire conversion in 2 hours.
Please post here in this thread if you would like to be added to the list:
We appreciate your support.
Best regards,
Jess Stockwell

I purchased one of the electronic conversion kits some time ago, and have had it sitting on the shelf for over a year. I had robbed the CDI off one of my scrappers to install on my runner, and bought the RR kit for "when the day came" that the whine faded away.... Well, recently I discovered that I wasn't really charging (again) so I readied to install the solid state regulator/rectifier that I purchased back then too. I quickly determined that the best place to mount the regulator was in the spot occupied by the CDI, so I decided to do it all. It works great. The installation of the RR ignition was so easy as to be absurd. Removing the CDI was more work than installing RR's kit. The coil clamps on right about where the old one was, and the sensor plate fits no problem. I static timed it at 8 1/2 degrees like it said to, pushed the button and it fired immediately and idled and ran fine. With the new regulator it made 14.5 VDC immediately. I suspect the RR conversion requires far less voltage to run than the CDI did, so the heavy draw of the starter doesn't impede the ignition. I did add a more generous amount of silicon to the shaft the rotor rides on, including a bead on the outside to prevent it from working off. I saw the little nylon set screw, but I didn't really want to mess with it. The rotor is very light, and I don't think it will try to work off. The RR kit is so simple, with so few parts, that I think it will be durable. The solid state regulator, which comes with a committed ground the original lacks, is making ample voltage, which the large battery can easily absorb. With ample VDC and reliable spark, it has really changed my enthusiasm for riding the bike. Now if I could only go more than 70 miles without hitting reserve..... Maybe grafting a CV Keihin?

I had one from the old Batch, and well worth the dollar it is too, nice crisp starting and smooth running. :-)

So this unit does replace the CDI box and works without the contact points. Please count me in for one!

Seems like we're not going to reach 10 orders in the near future(or am I wrong?) Loved to have one though to install this winter.

Again,
I will need some folks who are willing to put a deposit up front. Every bike that is being ridden should have one. It is just too expensive for me to front the cash for them to sit on the shelf...
I would love to make a batch...
Best,
