A fine example of an RE5 in need arrived at my house in New Zealand in February 2013 from Rotary Recycle. It was somewhat untidy and in need of some love and attention. It has undergone all the usual things that one does to get an RE5 up and going plus heaps more. The greatest single issue was the amount of "goo" in the carburettor left from evaporating fuel over the years and the residue left behind from water laden brake fluid in the master cylinder and brake calipers. New caliper kits and a master cylinder clean, a good clean out of the carburettor, a fuel tap modification to replace the leaking tap diaphram, fresh fuel, full choke and two stabs of the starter and it burst into life. A real "Woo,Hoo" moment thanks to Gareth's (son) knowledge of the carb learned from his experience on his RE5 . Our local wheel refurbisher, Hamco Industries has done a magnificent job on wheel restoration too. Many thanks to Jess and his team for their support and supply of parts and advice when needed. I look forward to riding it more now it's completed. If I can work out how to attach a photo I'll do so. Cheers.....Roy

The bike with the plate is mine. It was the first project that dad took on. He enjoyed it so much that he got one for himself and did that one up as well. Good job on both bikes, they both run great especially with a 95 main jet fitted. The standard 87.5 proved to be a bugger to run. ;D
