Just fitted new core plugs on the clutch side, While i had the cover off some one on this site said to re-new all seals etc, well taken the water pump spindle out of the casing and she is not looking good, half of the chrome has come off where it goes into the outer bush, also where the oil seal runs is pitted, is the small round thing below the propeller fixed on the shaft or will it tap off, will look at the parts list later ! looks like it needs a complete new unit if you can buy them? Hi Glen, You'll need to tap the whole shaft off. The "wheel" thing stays on the shaft. When you get another shaft it will have the "wheel" on it. The wheel face seals against the water seal. The sealing face in the wheel is removable and when you buy a new water seal, it'll come with that sealing face. Pop the new one into the wheel. You may need to apply heat to the centre of the pump casting if it's being really stubborn.
Contact Barbara at Rotary Recycle for a good used one. They are not available new anywhere.
The damage to your shaft end is typical and I had it on one of mine. It is due to the rubbish bearing that is inside the waterpump cover.
You'll need to remove that, it's probably ovaloid anyway. Best way is to drill small holes into it and use a scriber to break it up so it all falls out. You could try threading it with a tap and then screwing the tap all the way down and it sometimes will pop the bushing out, but that's never worked for me.
Once again, RR for a new bronze replacement bushing. When you reassemble the bike, most important not to forget the 15 grams of Bars Leaks with the coolant (as per the book). This will assist in keeping that bearing lubricated.
Cheers, Wayne

Looking again and with the aid of the parts list not as bad as first looked, was thinking the ball bearing ran on the large od of the shaft but this is where the oil seal runs, so its just the spindle and bush that wants sorting, will see how much a shaft is or have the old one turned and plated with whatever and a new bush made ? Up to you Glenn. As mentioned, spindles and brand new metal bushes are available.
I can't see the cost with postage from the US being any more than having a custom machining and plating job (unless you're doing it yourself).
I fitted a RR bushing into my rider and last had it apart after about 1500 klm of use and the new metal bushing and shaft end looked perfect.

Can anyone suggest where I might obtain a Water Pump Seal Unit and its associated Oil Seal?
Thanks Peter

They are probably still available from Suzuki but the cheaper option is to get one over the counter at your local bearing shop. The water seal is in common use.
Similarly with the oil seal...……….
