Hi Mike, Interesting to see that seat over in the UK. My very original RE5A came from a display at Sam Costanzo's museum where it was shown with a full tour kit (as I believe it was originally purchased).
Jess told me that while there were many copies, the pattern on that seat was, he believed, the original pattern that was available.
Just a word of warning though, if the seat base is the same as my museum bike, it is made of plastic and 35 years has not been kind. It was in perfect condition but after only a couple of rides the seat based cracked and had been pushed through at its pressure points underneath.
I was going to make a new fibreglass base for the seat but I think the base is moulded from an original metal base so I'm just going to refurbish one of those and replace the plastic.
Nice bike, looks like it's come from a PO who at least loved it..

Mike, Looks like a lovely bike. I have found the touring seat to be much more comforatble that the stocker as I have gotten older. I also have the genetic problem of "no butt" so I need some padding. I would be interested in carrying some of your seat pans, if you can get them done. Best Regards,

Great job, nice looking bike.. did you have any trouble getting it registered with DVLA? I have got to get mine registered when finished. I restored a 1959 BSA Bantam 6 years ago but had to get a vehicle identity check carried out.. did you same problem?

Love to have one but the prices of the very few in Australia are just too high for me.

hiya fazerman as long as you have the import papers saying all duties have been paid and the foreign title for the bike or a dating certificate you should not need an inspection, sometimes they as for pics of the bike regards mike
