Hi All, While I have my speedo/tach off to Sam for work, I want to paint the plastic cowl that makes up the headlight assembly. It looks like it's difficult keeping paint on seeing how it is nylon. The paint on there now is certainly easily peeled. What's a good paint for this? Should the surface be sanded prior to painting? That seems like it would help paint adhere to it. Thanks!

Krylon makes an excellent paint for plastics now...
Any painted part should be sanded, primed/sealed before paint...
The problem is going to be matching the color...
Good luck!
Best,
Jess

My good old pressure washer got most of this paint off. 42 degrees in Cincinnati but it was worth it...

Jess sid "The problem is going to be matching the color..."
I didn't understand at first as the cowl around my Star Trek Speedo/Tach was black. If I can't match black then I should take up knitting. As I removed the black with my pressure washer I noticed that the cowl WAS red before, so some PO painted it black to avoid the matching issues.
I just did a web search and I'm confused. I found some pictures with the headlight cowl being black with the more traditional gauges. I saw a picture with what looked like a chrome headlight cowl.
So my question is what should the plastic cowl be painted for:
1) Star Trek gauges? 2) The later "standard" gauges? 3) or was Suzuki not consistent?
Thanks!
