The mention of doing this in the west country seems to have killed off any enthusiasm, sorry. :-(

Evening Didge, I dont think its lack of enthusiasm, but could be "time" or lack of it. When trying to organise anything you need to take into consideration that people may have allready made plans for what they are doing this and next year. If you are trying to arrange a meeting to get the maximum attendance whoever is arranging needs to advertise well in advance so wives, girlfriends & partners have been informed of the future plans, and owners can plan holidays ( if they are still working) around the time of the gathering. I'm off to somewhere hot in June this year but have to work it in around my wife's hols. So what appears to be a fairly straight forward event turns out to be a lot more complicated. Can't make it this year out of the country.
Regards Stuart.

I am sure owners have to look at what confidence they have with there bike to ride the distance , I think there maybe quite a few bikes that are not riden more than 50 miles on a sunny sunday and a 2 to 300 mile trip to a meeting is a big test on the old beasts. But I'm sure with a good service and breakdown cover it could be a good meeting somewhere. Regards] Rog

I think it would be more of the owner's not trusting the machine than the actual mechanical condition. If you can go 50 or 60 miles, you can go 2-300. Is no one adventurous anymore? My test for roadworthiness is to drive locally for two hours or so. If the machine can handle all of the "in town" stresses from constant turns and heat buildup, then it should be OK to take on a highway for a few hours.

The longest I've done on mine in one go is around 350 miles, it ran like a dream and loved it. :-)

Have just done a commpresion test before a full service and MOT ready for the summer use. The last longest distance my bike traveled was 2 hours on M5 to Bristol in the Rain. Bike was fine my passenger and I were cold and Very Wet. Rog Attachments:
